Spearhead Day Update!

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

BIG THANK YOU to MICHAEL FRANTI and SPEARHEAD fans worldwide who purchased SpearGear on Friday October 19th!

From the hundreds of orders that came through, they raised a whopping $12,282!  And there were a number of people who donated directly here on Otto’s site.  These donations ranged from $10 to $2,000.  These folks heard the call and stepped up for someone they’ve never met.  Amazing show of love and support!

One donor wrote:

Michael Franti shows have given me so much happiness over the years, it’s a pleasure to have a chance to give back to you guys.  My prayers are with Otto.

Michael also dedicated a song to Otto during his performance in Monterey the same night as our fundraiser at Shine.  From the fans I know who heard it, this was one of the most moving moments they have ever experienced at a concert.  Truly beautiful.  Thank you Michael and all the talented and caring members of the Spearhead family!

Big Love To!

LA Healing.

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

Sunday night was a wonderful collective of family and friends gathering here in Los Angeles .  We drank, ate and focused our meditation towards our beloved friend Otto.

The picture above is the outcome of our thoughts imprinted on seven healing candles.

This mantra came to me later that evening:

IGNITE EACH CANDLE PURPOSIVELY

WITH ENDURING STREGNTH

VISUALIZE HEALING ENERGY

ILLUMINATING YOUR CORE BEING

MEDIATE YOUR MEDITATION

AND HEAL WITHIN

Much Love from Los Angeles ,

WHY ME? Believe it or not this isn’t a question that I asked myself or the Universe before Sunday.  It’s not a question I ever asked before when all of the other amazing and wonderful things were happening to me or for me in this life, so it wasn’t a question I was dwelling on now that I’ve been diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer.  That might be hard for some to believe or understand, but it’s my whole truth.

The Fundraiser at Shine this Sunday was UNBELIEVABLE, thanks again Lee, for so many reasons; to be surrounded by so many beautiful, positive and supportive people from EVERY stage of my Life was indeed my first “Cancer Treatment Session”…and Yes; it was both aggressive and effective!  A little overwhelming; at times…but necessary!

~It was like trying to sip from a Fire Hydrant of LOVE~

My Family and I sat there for a couple hours receiving Hugs, Sharing Stories of Triumph and Survival, a lot of Laughs and a few sweet Tears.  Thank you to everyone that was able to come over and spend a minute, every one of our interactions was vital to me and a step on my path to full recovery.  Many of you brought your ideas about “WHY Otto” to me and I’d like to try and share with you what you all said and what I now believe:

A Message from Otto

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

Give thanks!

Gratitude: I’d like to start by saying Thank You to everyone around me that has been so completely and selflessly supportive and LOVING to me and my family in the past few weeks. I can not possibly fully express the strength that I have received through your good words, kind deeds and loving gestures of Friendship and support. The last two weeks have been among the most challenging in my life and simultaneously the most incredible. I was told a week ago to see this as an opportunity to really see how much I am Loved and Supported in this world; those were hard words to read at the time, but make a lot more sense now!  I’ve seen and heard things from all of you in the past weeks that I didn’t think were possible!  Every one of you AMAZE me.

Specifically, I’d like to thank Lee Williams for his incredible efforts in activating this powerful community, literally around the world and overnight!  Starting the day after my surgery, each day he’d bring me a folder of printed emails and photos that were being sent to a web site I’d never even seen and a longer and longer list of contributors to this cause that includes people I’ve know my entire life and some I’ve never met and end each day by reading all of your kind words and reading aloud the names of everyone on the list; this provided immeasurable strength and healing when I desperately needed it!

Hope: This week I was told I have stage 4 colon cancer and that it has spread to my Liver.  Not the news I was hoping to hear, but it certainly not the end!  I know this and believe this with every cell (healthy or not) in my body and with every ounce of strength in my SOUL.  I need you all to know this and believe this, as the collective healing powers of focused intention and belief can not be stopped. Otto is the Godfather of her and Marcus Strenks daughter Ekle.  See her message below.

What to say about Otto?  Marcus and I have known Otto for more than a decade.  He is the Godfather to our firstborn, Elke Wilhelmine.  When Elke was born Otto was one of the first people to (awkwardly J) hold her in his arms.  When it came time to choose a Godparent we did not care about “traditional” Godparent type duties.  We hoped that by choosing the right person, we would give our daughter the gift of someone extraordinary who would enrich her life with ideas, culture, experiences and love in ways we could not provide.

Thank you Otto for being that Godparent to our daughter.  When she goes through adolescence and beyond, you are our ace in the hole.  When she won’t come to us (which will be often) she will know her Godfather Otto is a cool cat that she can actually talk to about real life stuff.
