Sunday Update

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

Hi Everyone,

We have all had a tough week full of tears, confusion, sadness, and grief. Fortunately, we have each other to hug and cry with, to remember and laugh with – now what would Otto do…

Sunday

Give Thanks friends of Otto.

Many of you know the close bond Otto had with his mother Dafne.  Thanksgivings were difficult because she passed on a Thanksgiving day many years ago.  It is fitting that he should be laid to rest on her birthday this Sunday June 1st.  Give Thanks. There are many activities planned to allow as many people as possible to pay their respects.

11:11am - Cactus and Succulent garden planting with Indra at the home they shared at 3851 Market Street.  We will plant all that arrive. Visit www.cactusjungle.com for ideas.

2:00 pm – Memorial walk from Otto’s house to the place he wants to rest.  We’ll journey there to remember, commune and see the city through his eyes.  Wear layers or warm clothes and comfortable shoes.  There is parking at the top of Twin Peaks for those who can’t make this 45 minute walk up the hill. A special moment will be shared with all those who attend.  Please carpool, take a bus or walk to Otto’s 3851 Market Street.  I’ve seen him walk from there to Fisherman’s Wharf and back…on chemo…so please conserve gas.

4:20 pm – Shuttles will take folks to the Urban Art Farm for a celebration of the life and friendships of this gentle giant.  Music, dancing, laughs and memories will be on the agenda as only Otto would plan it.

Any changes or additional details will be posted here.  Email me with questions randomleekind at yahoo . com.

Much Love,

Lee

Thank you to Dae Han, Julie Costanzo, Jennifer Steinle, Gayle Link, Ben Paula, Nate ,Matt and Trip Hosley, Mr and Mrs. Engler and the countless others that have done so much to honor Otto and define friendship in ways that leaves me so very humbled.  Otto and I have had this conversation many times and I am truly overwhelmed with gratitude.

Saturday – Brass Tax

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

A large void has been left in our lives due to the passing of our dear
friend Otto Schutt.  Let’s gather this Saturday to fill that void with
sunshine, smiles, hugs, music, dancing, and a liberal helping of
shenanigans.  We’ll celebrate Otto’s life by coming together to share
all of the things he loved.  Just ask yourself, “What Would Otto Do?”
He wouldn’t want us moping around right now – he’d want us living out
loud, shaking our asses and making each other laugh.  So BRING IT!

The celebration will be in (more…)

The Otto Effect

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

The past 8 months of Otto’s journey I know has been a journey for you, Indra, his family, and so many others that loved him.

The awe that continues to occur for each gathering is inspiring.  In a huge tragedy and loss Otto still continues to inspire me.  Through grief and sadness he was able to seep into everyone’s hearts last night.  I’m sad and heartbroken for everyone, for Otto, but at the same inspired in a way that is confusing (through such loss) and bigger than I can explain.

I was speaking to Otto’s Dad last night who said through this whole experience Otto has had gratitude for the challenge and complete acceptance that this was his path.  Powerful, courageous, grace, wisdom, love.

Last weekend I had the lucky opportunity to spend the day at Green Gulch Zen Center.  I did yoga on Muir beach, hiked back to the center, then shared an amazing healthy meal with like hearted people.  Just when I thought my day couldn’t get any better I was encouraged to (more…)

Otto was so touched by this and it was such a kind way for Michael to express his feelings for our friend, brother and hero.

Few people come into lives and leave an indelible mark on our hearts as Otto has done for us.   He found himself in so many happy places that involved dancing, music and laughs that it was tough not to be pulled into his orbit.  Just as he was so much of your happy times so were you in his.

Please join us:

Wednesday May 28th at 7:30 we will gather at Sophia Healing Center at 776 Haight Street between Scott and Pierce.

If you can’t be there tonight please take a moment of silent reflection at 8:15 PM Pacific Standard to remember a laugh, a hug or a time when you danced with this force of giving, peace and love.

Please join us tonight to remember such a beautiful man and celebrate his life.

Give Thanks Big Brother.  Rest well friend.

Raising the Energy with Sound Healing

Monday, May 26th, 2008

To all who love to feel the love on Ottomatic,

I have a vision.  It is simple. On Wednesday May 28th at 7:30 we will gather at Sophia Healing Center at 776 Haight Street between Scott and Pierce. We will create a healing vibration with our voice and bathe Otto in it, creating a sound healing. My dear friend Andrea http://mirabaiandfriends.com/ who leads Kirtan http://mirabaiandfriends.com/index.php/what-is-kirtan and has an amazing healing voice and Timothy who leads sound healing will lead us through the sound healing while Otto rests in our circle of love and sound.  I really want this to be a space for us to journey through release, acceptance, gratitude, love, and healing.  My experience of Kirtan has always been an wondrous raise in my body energies.  I think we all can use it, especially Otto!

On another note, I would like those who would like to participate in the building of a garden for Otto to bring a succulent or cacti to our house, 3851 A Market Street (94131), on Sunday, June 1st around noon.  I am currently creating a zen garden of succulents and cacti below our window for him to look down on. We will plant all that arrive during that day.  Anyone else who would like to plant on a different day just bring one by another time.

Journeying with cancer over the last 8 months has brought an incredible amount of growth into our lives.  It has requires us to dig deep to our roots and ask ourselves what it means to support life, how to heal, grow and continue on……I would like for you to manifest your intentions for life in Otto’s garden.

Be Good to Yourself!

TGIF for most of us and a long day of chemo for Otto.   Thoughts and prayers!

With the amazing weather we’ve been having I hope each one of you practice a bit of Carpe Diem.  Give Thanks for what we have and make the moments count!  We all know that tomorrow isn’t a given but Otto and folks fighting cancer really KNOW that each day is a gift.  Might be a good weekend to make new friends, try a new sport or enjoy the natural surroundings we so often take for granted.

Also, several of us are giving our colons a spring cleaning in honor of Otto.  Wether it be The Master Cleanse, eliminating coffee/cola, eating more veggies or changing your diet in some way to promote better health feel free to use Otto as an excuse.

Much Love and be sure to Give Thanks,

Lee

love on otto-matic – lyrics and music by Paul Turner

we share our music, we share our soul
we share a future only our children will know
so much time wasted thinking life’s so hard
with love in our hearts we will always go far

its not hard and you won’t regret it
just reach out and grab it
we’ve got to turn our dreams into our habits
and put our love on otto-matic

they want a part of you- to go
they can’t take the heart of you – no no
this gift you’re given will never
compare to the gifts you give which last forever

its not hard and you won’t regret it
just reach out and grab it
we’ve got to turn our dreams into our habits
and put our love on otto-matic

one man’s sunset is another’s sunrise
so take a look from that other mans eyes
to climb a mountain, to touch the sea
to fall in love, that’s what life should be

its not hard and you won’t regret it
just reach out and grab it
we’ve got to turn our dreams into our habits
and put our love on otto-matic

its not hard and you won’t regret it
just reach out and grab it
we’ve got to turn our dreams into our habits
and put our love on otto-matic
and put our love on otto-matic
and put our love on otto-matic
and put our love on otto-matic
and put our love on otto-matic
