A large void has been left in our lives due to the passing of our dear
friend Otto Schutt. Â Let’s gather this Saturday to fill that void with
sunshine, smiles, hugs, music, dancing, and a liberal helping of
shenanigans. Â We’ll celebrate Otto’s life by coming together to share
all of the things he loved. Â Just ask yourself, “What Would Otto Do?”
He wouldn’t want us moping around right now – he’d want us living out
loud, shaking our asses and making each other laugh. Â So BRING IT!
The celebration will be in Elk Glen Picnic Area in Golden Gate Park
(directions below) beginning at noon and going until at least 6,
probably later. Â There are picnic tables and grills there, and we’ll
have charcoal and some camp stoves for makin’ bacon. Â Kids are
definitely welcome – we’ll even have a bouncy castle for them (and for
adults too of course). Â Dogs are also welcome, but they should probably
stay out of the bouncy castle.
We will be creating an altar on the dance floor in honor of Otto. Please
feel free to bring photos, fabric, effigies, memories, writings, relics,
flowers or anything that you might want to contribute to keep his
presence with us. Â If you would like to help with the creation of the
altar, please contact Babs (babsicali@gmail. com) and Jess
(jess_stockton@ yahoo.com).
A full stable of Brass Tax DJs will be bumping tunes to help you do your
best Otto dance, but you are also welcome to contribute any special song
that you would like to hear in honor of the big man. Â There are a couple
ways you can do this:
1. Bring a cd, record, or ipod with you on Saturday and give it to
DingDong. Â Make sure it is well labeled with the specific song you want
to have played, along with your name and phone number so we can get it
back to you if it gets mixed in with other music.
2. Email an mp3 to DingDong at dingdong@gmail. com. Â We’ll be setting up
all Saturday morning so make sure you send it to him by Friday.
We do however have a full lineup already, including a couple BTx
residents flying in from afar, so please keep it to one or two songs.
You can trust that the BTx is very familiar with Otto’s expansive taste
in music and it will certainly be represented to the fullest!
We’ll also be doing a sing-along of Paul’s song “Love on Ottomatic.”
The lyrics are printed below, under the directions to the park, but
we’ll also have some copies printed out.
If you have any other ideas or ways you would like to contribute, please
feel free! Â This is everyone’s celebration – not just a Brass Tax party.
If you want some help or have questions, contact Stefanie at
sgesiorski@yahoo. com.
We know some of you on this list never had the opportunity to meet Otto,
but you are still more than welcome to come – you’ll hear so many great
stories you’ll feel like you know him!
Please forward this email far and wide so it reaches everyone it needs
to.
GIVE THANKS!!!
Putting our love on Otto-matic,
Brass Tax
